Grupo Wayak is a Panamanian tech startup in the process of developing a digital platform designed to improve interurban public transportation across the country. Our mission is to make travel to the country-side regions more accessible, efficient, and convenient for both locals and tourists by providing a tool that simplifies ticket purchasing and enables real-time route tracking. The idea for Central Bus was inspired by lived experiences and years of observing the challenges faced by travelers in Panama: long queues, the need to visit terminals in person to buy tickets, the lack of real-time information, and the uncertainty around transfers and bus availability. These barriers not only affect mobility but also hinder tourism and regional economic growth. Our platform, currently under development, will offer: - A responsive web application for ticket purchasing and route tracking - Integration of secure digital payment methods - Real-time GPS tracking of select buses - Updated schedule and route information - Accessibility features for users with disabilities - Curated content and event calendars to promote tourism in lesser-known regions We have already taken important steps toward validating the idea, including meetings with bus operators in Las Tablas and interviews with local and international travelers. In addition, we’ve invested in the design of the user interface that will serve as the foundation for our Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Central Bus is not just a transportation solution, it’s a tool for social inclusion, economic activation, and digital transformation. By addressing long-standing mobility challenges, we aim to empower communities, support local businesses, and make Panama’s most beautiful destinations accessible to everyone.
