SHELADIA Associates, Inc. (SHELADIA) is an American architectural and engineering and construction management firm headquartered in the Washington, DC metropolitan area of the United States. It has offices in 11 countries, 240 employees and over 3,000 highly qualified personnel on a professional registry for surge and special needs. Most of the staff have worked extensively overseas, including for US Federal Government Projects, and are thoroughly versed and experienced in U.S. and international norms and standards. Since 1974, SHELADIA has completed over 1,100 projects for 300+ clients including the InterAmerican Development Bank, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, USAID, Millennium Challenge Corporation, US Department of State, US Department of Defense and host country government entities throughout Asia, Africa, Middle East and Europe. The primary sectors of focus include transportation, water and sanitation, agriculture/irrigation, and vertical structures, which include health clinics/hospitals, schools, agricultural processing and storage facilities, and various government and community buildings. Transportation- SHELADIA has a long history of successfully implementing projects in the transportation sector. Our transportation projects: include the design and construction supervision of rural, urban, and national roads and highways; the design and construction supervision of tunnels and bridges; and inter-modal transport studies, including railways and ports. In 50 years, we have implemented more than 800 projects in the road sector throughout the world. Our services include feasibility studies, economic studies, preparation of master plans, detailed engineering design, preparation of tender documents, design review and construction supervision, project management consultancies, M&E, and capacity building and institutional strengthening. Irrigation and Water Resources Engineering- SHELADIA’s projects in irrigation and water resources focus on aspects of irrigation infrastructure from the main canal level to the tertiary level, command area and watercourse development, and institutional strengthening through capacity building of government institutions and water user associations (WUA). We provide assistance to governments to strengthen Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in different river basins, institutional strengthening of the Department of Water Resources/Irrigation in the respective project countries, key engineering design, monitoring and evaluation, establishing database for surface and groundwater resources, river basin planning, creation and implementation of regulatory bodies, M&E, and environment and social assessment. We have undertaken major irrigation reform projects that sought participatory approaches, either for system handover, system initiation, rehabilitation or upgrading. Architecture - SHELADIA provides architecture and engineering services for buildings, including educational facilities, health facilities and hospitals, markets, and various government and private sector office and commercial buildings throughout the world. Our team of architects and structural engineers have over hundred years of extensive experience in planning, designing, providing feasibility studies, and managing the construction of both public and private facilities around the world. SHELADIA has built a robust repertoire of experience working on Transportation, Facilities and Vertical Structures in the US. Few examples include: • DC Water Combined Heat & Power Plant project at the World’s Largest Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant (AWTP) project serves approximately 725 square miles of DC, Maryland and Virginia and has a capacity of 370 million gallons per day. This $80 million project to construct three new buildings, a concrete pad and a parking and maintenance yard. SHELADIA provided civil and structural engineering services, permitting and construction management services. • DC Water’s comprehensive Asset Management (AM) program. SHELADIA provided engineering, technical writing, graphics, communication and Asset Management Support on this project. •WMATA Bus-1 Project is a $70 million design-build project that involves the rehabilitation of Landover Bus Division, Western Bus Division, Northern Bus Division, Metro Supply Facility and Landover Open Material Storage Facility. As the Prime Design Consultant, the SHELADIA was responsible for all design, permits and inspections, including compliance with codes. • Roadway design and construction management of the I-495 HOT lanes project. Design and plan preparation for the maintenance of traffic (MOT), clearing and grubbing, erosion and sediment control, signing and pavement marking, drainage design for bridges and sound walls. SHELADIA also performed bridge design services for three bridges on the I-95 Express Lanes project.
