The “Chankuap Foundation: resources for the future”, was born in 1996 in Macas as an answer to technical and organizational know how arising from Shuar and Achuar indigenous communities in the Ecuadorian regions of Amazonian: Morona, Santiago and Pastaza. These territories and populations are actually facing a dramatic historical change: new economic models (farming, deforestation, and oil exploration) are speedily arising often regardless to their traditional equilibrium and habitat as well as natural resources of the Amazonian region. Mission The mission of Chankuap is to focus on more “vulnerable” social groups providing them know how, direct assistance and resources for an alternative development model, always respectful of local identities as well as natural resources. Vision: To be a consolidated institution that helps create efficient, social-integral development services in the Amazon Region, oriented to and sustaining the potential of vulnerable groups, while respecting their identity and encouraging self-administration and solidarity. These are strategic objectives of the Foundation and main actions taken for its achievement: • Promote TECHNICAL and ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: through the improvement of the PRODUCTION system with training activities, technical consultancy and micro credit initiatives, rationalize the LOGISTIC system, implement a common COMMERCIALIZATION PLATFORM. • Promote SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT improving direct access and quality of education and health services • Promote ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT consolidating democratic institutions starting from the bottom level of the communities Our products • Essential Oils: Ginger, Curcuma, Ishpink, Lemon grass • Spices: Ginger, Curcuma, chile pepper • Infusions: Guayusa, Lemon grass • Cosmetics: soap liquids, creams nutritious, shmpoo, body splash, oils of massages • Handicrafts made of seeds provided by the Amazon rainforest
