In the middle of the mountains in Colombia, we found El Libano. It is a small town located in north Tolima Colombia. Our farm called El Vergel is 26 kilometers away from this beautiful town, and there, we have been raising up our coffee since almost 10 years ago. The farm is managed by Stella Castillo who was born in Libano. She is a single mother, and a victim of the armed conflict in Colombia. The war has been affecting the region since the sixties. Moreover, although the war affected the economy in this small town; Libano is recognize because this is the place where many famous Colombian writers were born. Furthermore, the beautiful views of our mountains connect the region to the Nevados national park. in contrast, the criminal groups who led the war around this region, have committed massacres, human rights violations and land dispossessions to the people who live there. Now days, they are considered a vulnerable population. Therefore, seeing the interest of the people who visit the region in trying the flavor of the coffee that is being cultivated in north Tolima, we decided to expand; and this has resulted in more than 5 years in the national market selling our coffee to different kinds of people who are looking for a Colombian coffee with an unbeatable flavor.
