1. Introduction to the Concept The low temperature pyrolysis gasification facilities of our technology first inject minimum air of 5 to 10% of the required combustion air in the pyrolysis gasifier to burn the limited amount of waste to form the local combustion zone and uses the local combustion heat of 800 to 1,000 ℃ generated from this zone to dry and pyrolyze the other waste. The pyrolysis gas generated by the pyrolysis gasification in the pyrolysis furnace is a combustible gas which is cooled down to below 250℃. The pyrolysis gas is to be completely burned in the burner with the optimal air ratio like LPG. It is an eco-friendly waste treating facilities that can reduce the concentration of pollutant emissions. In addition, it has the advantage of low operating cost compared to other types of incinerators and easy maintenance as there is no mechanical driving part in the furnace. 2. Strength of the Technology Compared to other types of incinerators, the pyrolysis gasification technology has the following strengths. ▶ Air pollutants (dust, NOx, CO, etc.) are reduced by less than half compared to direct incinerators due to the low air ratio (1.2~1.4) and dioxin is burned off during the secondary combustion of the pyrolyzes gas at about 1,000 ℃ after gasification process. ▶ The operation failure rate is very low and availability is more than 90% during the facilities life time since there is no mechanical driving part inside the pyrolysis furnace. ▶ Residual ash rate is less than 3% and its ash disposal is easy by disposing it with an automatic ash disposal unit. ▶ Wide range (heating-value, waste composition, etc.) of waste can be treated. Industrial waste, construction waste, ocean waste, medical waste, waste tire and so on which are not suitable to the stoker incinerators can be treated well. Pre-treatment of waste drying is optional only when the moisture contents are more than 40%. ▶ Compared to direct incinerator, the technology operation cost is reduced by about 30% or more due to no driving part and less pollutant generation rate. 3. Application of the Technology If moisture rate of waste is under 40%, any type of waste can be dumped together into the furnace for a day by two furnaces each of which is taken for 12 hours in turn. So, neither pre-treatment nor sorting process is required. The pyrolyzed gas is combusted to make steam at the boiler to be used as a steam itself or to generate electricity through steam turbine generator. The capacity of 100 ton/day waste pyrolysis facilities generates about from 2.5 MW to 3 MW (60 MWh/day to 72 MWh/day) depending on the waste heating value. The technology is easily applied to the following projects. - Municipal solid waste (MSW) treatment, and others like Industrial, Marine and Construction waste - Medical waste treatment - Waste tire treatment 4. Proven Performance by Commercialized Facilities The technology has been developed more than 25 years by Boguk Chairman Mr. Duk-Jun Lim and its experimental small-scale facilities have already been installed and operated. Based on this know-how, in July 2016, Unit-1 (200m3/batch) was constructed at Anytech Co., Ltd., a private waste treatment company handling with various wastes including industrial wastes, construction wastes, municipal wastes, etc., located in Yangju-city, Gyeonggi-do, Korea. An additional Unit-2 (200m3/batch) was installed in the same site, and both units are operating successfully as per the requirements since then until now. Therefore, our low-temperature pyrolysis gasification technology is already commercialized and proven due to 9 years successful commercial operation. The average annual availability rate of the low temperature pyrolysis gasification facility is around 90%. 5. Proposal Our business model in overseas markets is engineering, manufacturing, and supplying the major equipment (pyrolysis unit and burner unit). During installation, we could provide supervision as well. If it is required to supply other equipment like boiler and steam generator, we could do outsourcing qualified vendor’s equipment to supply together with our major equipment. Construction works is better to be undertaken by local contractors, while at your request we could recommend the Korean EPC contractors if they have any experiences in your country. We could provide the waste pyrolyzing capacity range of facilities by one unit from 2 ton/day to 150 ton/day. If a bigger capacity is required depending on the local conditions, multiple lines can be provided to cover the required capacity. For example, if it is required for 300 ton/day, 2 lines with 150 ton/day can be provided. In this way, there are many advantages in terms of operation. Specifically, even if one of the multiple lines stops operating due to various reasons such as maintenance, the other lines can be operated normally, which leads to improved facility availability. The plant availability is 330 days/year based on 24 hours operation.
