Darío Macchi

Currently I am interested in doing scientific research in software engineering to add value to its body of knowledge. At the same time, I want to satisfy some practical needs of the industry, especially the ones related with decision making. I think it would be helpful to bring more tools from the scientific research environment to the daily activities of software development companies. To achieve this goal and make a first approach to the scientific field, I have done a Master of Engineering at Universidad ORT Uruguay. About my industry experience, I'm working at VAIRIX as a scrum master in Ruby on Rails projects. At the same time I'm working on the visibility of the company, contributing with the company blog, doing twitter's experiments and making contacts to improve sales. Besides I have worked for more than 10 years in PricewaterhouseCoopers with the .NET framework, although before, I used to work with Java in Windows and Linux platforms. I have extensive experience (10+ years) with web applications, JavaScript and AJAX using frameworks as JQuery, KnockoutJs, Raphaël, Snap.svg and Prototype to develop several controls and plugins. As hobby I’m continuously looking for “odd” programming languages like Lisp, Clojure and Lua, feeling very attracted by the functional programming style. Main skills: software engineering (all SDLC stages), agile methodologies (mainly scrum), software development (client side mainly, JS, JQuery, SVG) and computer scientific research.
