NAHUR MELÉNDEZ CASTILLO, Economist, graduated from Simon Fraser University, British Columbia, Canada. He studied Total Quality Management and Specialized Industrial Standardization at the University of Nagoya Japan and the Aichi-kenChushoKigyoCenter, He holds a Masters degree in Strategies of Total Quality Management from EOI – School of Industrial Organization, Madrid Spain. In the area of Management, he has a Masters degree in Business Management from the University Diego Portales, Chile. He has complemented his studies in Economics and Quality Management with a Masters degree in Business Administration from ESERP, School of Science in Management at the University of Barcelona, Spain. He is a specialist in high-technology regional development planning. He specializes in regional economic analysis and development, he has applied these skills to cluster analysis and competitiveness studies. He has extensive prior experience in regional impact studies, transportation economics, cost/benefit analysis and environmental studies. He has performed cluster analysis and readiness assessments in IT, and tourism industries. Also, he has engaged in or led cluster-based strategy projects, with a special focus on public/private collaboration, technology issues and small business development. He has 20 years of experience as a consultant with more than 500 companies in Canada, Chile and Japan advising them in their different productive sectors. He has worked as an advisor for different government and development agencies (Chilean National Agency for Business Development, Chilean National Agency for Fishery , National Founding for Regional Development, Regional Ministry for planning Regional Government , Ministry of Economy, Ministry of national planning, Ministry of Agriculture National Quality Division of Agriculture and Development.) He is the author of publications on issues of quality and modernization. He also has been a partner and company director.
