Ennio Rodriguez

Costa Rican economist with a vast international experience in both the public and the private sectors of more than thirty years, including a multilateral development bank (Inter-American Development Bank –IADB–), an international organisation (U. N. Economic Commission for Latina America and the Caribbean –ECLAC–), and a private sector international organization (Federation of Private Sector Entities of Central America and Panama –FEDEPRICAP–). During his international career he has worked primarily with Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Haiti and Mexico, but has also worked with all the countries in the Americas, and in Sub-Saharan Africa. Has extensive experience working in multicultural environments.

A strong academic background (Licenciatura in Economics from the Universidad de Costa Rica, Doctorate in Development Studies from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom, and Tenured Professor in Development Economics from the Universidad de Costa Rica), combines with the highest level political experience as Minister of External Finance and Debt during the debt crisis of his country and the beginning of the structural adjustment process at the beginning of the eighties, where he played a leading role in shaping policies and external negotiations. Has proven managerial skills in the private and public sectors and his equanimity is outstanding, and has enabled him to lead difficult international negotiations for his country as well for the organisations he has worked for. Currently is the President and CEO of Root Carbon Inc. of Canada and of its subsidiary Agua Pristina de Costa Rica S. A. a start-up endeavour.

Has great verbal and written communication skills both in English and Spanish, and a great ability to understand complex situations, whether regional, country or organizational and to suggest feasible strategies to address them. Has published seven books and over fifty articles in journals or as book chapters.
