As a registered national pre-apprenticeship program with the Department of Education in Florida, our mission is both purposeful and profound: to equip women with the foundational skills and confidence needed to thrive in carpentry, plumbing, roofing, and painting.At Sister of NEW, we understand that the journey to a fulfilling and sustainable career in these fields begins with training and mentorship. Our program provides hands-on experience and practical knowledge in essential trade skills, offering women a pathway to apprenticeship opportunities and long-term employment. By creating a supportive learning environment, we aim to break down barriers and challenge stereotypes, demonstrating that the skilled trades are not just for men but are a viable and rewarding career choice for women too.Leading our initiative is Ms. Luiza Inez Ortiz, our president and a passionate advocate for women in trades. With over 15 years of experience as a female union carpenter, Luiza brings a wealth of expertise and inspiration to our program. Her journey has been marked by determination and resilience, and she is committed to sharing that spirit with the women we serve.
