SAMAN, Sociedad Anónima Molinos Arroceros Nacionales, was founded in 1942, born out of a small mill with limited production capacity. Since then, we have shaped the direction of the rice market by introducing an operational model that positioned us as the nation’s leading company. We control approximately 50% of Uruguay’s total rice production, and we are number one in the region’s exporter ranking. It is through the nexus between the industry, producers, technicians, markets, research, and their integrated action that we find the key to our sustainable growth as well as the development of the whole Uruguayan rice sector – a sector that promotes and positions the country in the international market. At SAMAN, we support producers in all activities and have fostered an unprecedented bond of trust. Since 2007 SAMAN has been part of the Camil Alimentos group, which has renewed its focus, through growth and sustainable development objectives, all the while preserving the most traditional values of our rice company. With the incorporation of SAMAN, Camil has established itself as the undeniable leader and projects itself to foreign markets as the continent’s leading rice company and one of the top five in the world. In 2022, we acquired a food importer company, owner of the La Abundancia brand and a leading player in various sectors, including vegetables, seeds, nuts, preserves, and more. With distribution channels in retail, wholesale, and food service.
