Adaptive learning is an educational method that uses computers as a strategy to promote teaching interactions and mediate learning according to the specific needs of each student. The didactic content is displayed and adapted according to the student's learning needs, based on the answers of the exercises, tasks and previous experiences. The technology encompasses aspects derived from several fields of study, including Computer Science, Education, Psychology and Neurosciences. Adaptive learning was partly driven by the realization that individualized learning cannot be achieved on a large scale with traditional, non-adaptive approaches. Adaptive learning systems strive to transform students from passive recipients of information to collaborators in the educational process. "Academic" education is the primary application of adaptive learning systems, but business / company training can also benefit. These ideas have already been implemented in several types of educational systems, such as educational adaptive hypermedia, intelligent tutoring systems, computerized adaptation tests, computer-based "pedagogical agents", among others. Intelligent Tutor System (ITS) is any computer system that provides direct personalized instructions or feedback to students while performing pedagogical tasks. Thus, ITS implement the theory of learning by doing. ITS can employ several different technologies. However, these systems are generally more closely designed as artificial intelligence systems, more specifically, expert systems designed to simulate aspects of a human tutor. These are principles that we use in the research and projects carried out by our group in the area of education.
