Green Social Bioethanol is a social enterprise that helps rural communities escape energy poverty and its complex outcomes by providing them with an innovative Ethanol Micro Distillery (EMD) they can use to produce their own clean fuel. Green's EMD can produce Ethanol from a series of different feedstocks, using locally grown crops as source material and respecting the surrounding environment. Green’s process is extremely energy-efficient. By employing an innovative technology of cold enzymes, the entire process operates at the optimal level of 32º, saving tons of burning fuel daily and assuring a positive net energy balance. The ethanol produced from the EMD can be safely used for generating electricity, power vehicles and light up clean cook stoves, contributing to the shift towards a clean energy mix. Thus, the EMD operates in a complete self-sufficient mode. A small amount of the ethanol produced is used to fuel the Ethanol Power Generator, providing the required electricity for keeping the machinery working continuously. The installation of an EMD not only employs dozens of people directly in daily operations but also fosters a network of indirect job posts. Local farmers increase their productivity as new constant demand is generated by the EMD. At the same time, the co-products generated in the process of producing bioethanol are extremely rich in nutrients and can be used as fertilizer for crops and also as complementary feedstock, boosting agricultural productivity and closing the loop cycle of Social Bioethanol.
