The Government of the Dominican Republic has requested a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to finance the cost of the Universal Sanitation Program in Coastal and Tourist Cities II, and intends to use part of the proceeds of this loan to make the payments stipulated in the Contract for the Design, Construction and Operation of the Macro Sanitation Infrastructure Works of La Romana.
The Ministry of Tourism (MITUR), in its capacity as the executing agency, intends to use part of the funds from this loan for the Procurement of an Electric Truck Fleet, Electric Charging Service Equipment, and Training for its operation, for the provision of solid waste collection and transportation services in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Activity 1.6.2.1.
The overall objective of the project is to improve food security and competitiveness of the agricultural sector in the Dominican Republic by increasing productivity, food safety, and market access. The specific objectives are to improve: (i) agri-food health and safety services; (ii) innovation and transfer of phytosanitary technologies; and (iii) the agricultural statistics system.
