Para isso, viabiliza a implantação de um sistema industrial para o processamento e extração da matéria prima com 100% de aproveitamento dos insumos.Com uma fábrica-modelo já implantada no município de Coroatá, na zona dos cocais no estado do Maranhão, a startup acredita que o coco babaçu é referência para um processo de mudança sem precedentes na história do Maranhão, com uma tecnologia diferenciada e sustentável.A mudança proposta é por meio do aproveitamento integral de todos os coprodutos do coco babaçu, ou seja, das fibras até as amêndoas, transformando toda a matéria prima em óleo; torta proteica; carvão ativado; biomassa para geração de energia, aditivos para veículos e farinhas amiláceas. Além do aproveitamento integral do fruto, todo esse processo produtivo da Apoena não gera resíduos. As famílias agroextrativistas envolvidas no arranjo, inclusive com a participação importante das mulheres, que coletam e vendem os frutos caídos das palmeiras para a APOENA, sobrevivendo em parte daquilo que as florestas nativas de babaçu preservadas lhes ofertam, melhorando assim as condições de vida destas famílias agroextrativistas envolvidas, dentro do conceito da bioeconomia e do extrativismo sustentável.“Um dos propósitos da Apoena é o desenvolvimento de produtos nobres do coco babaçu e dessa forma disseminar valor financeiro com foco na preservação das florestas de coco babaçu, para que suas palmeiras não precisem ser cortadas e dizimadas, e como consequência, proporcionar para as comunidades agroextrativistas envolvidas com nossos projetos bem-estar, melhoria do poder aquisitivo e da qualidade de vida”, explica Marcia Werle, fundadora da Apoena.Desde agosto de 2022, a Apoena já comprou diretamente das famílias agroextrativistas 181 toneladas de coco babaçu, atingindo diretamente 28 famílias da região.
