« Essayons de sortir des sentiers battus, essayons de voir les opportunités qu'il y a pour le 21e siècle et de ne pas nous plaindre de ce qui se passe à Port-au-Prince », c’est l’appel qu’a lancé Kesner Pharel, président du Group Croissance, à l’occasion du lancement de la 2e édition du Sommet régional de la Finance dans le grand Nord. Dans son message, l’économiste a appelé les participants à réfléchir à des projets innovants qui s'inscrivent dans la transition écologique. Il en a profité pour souligner l'importance de la coopération entre les acteurs publics et privés pour stimuler la croissance économique durable dans le Nord, notamment en matière de tourisme, d'agriculture et de technologies de l'information et de la communication.

Les deux jours du sommet ont été marqués par des interventions importantes de la part des représentants des institutions publiques et privées, notamment de la Banque Centrale, du PNUD, du ministère de l'Économie et des Finances et de l'Autorité portuaire nationale (APN).

En marge du sommet, Kesner Pharel a également appelé la diaspora haïtienne, dont les transferts ont dépassé les trois millions de dollars américains au dernier exercice, à investir dans la région. « L'argent n'est pas un problème, mais il faut avoir de bons projets et la finance peut soutenir tout ça », a-t-il conclu. 

Autre intervention très plébiscitée, celle du Directeur général de l'Autorité Portuaire Nationale (APN), Jocelin Villier, invité d'honneur du sommet, qui a souligné l'importance de la modernisation des infrastructures portuaires pour stimuler la croissance économique. Il a également évoqué le concept de "ville portuaire", qui vise à dynamiser le développement économique des villes côtières en valorisant les potentialités des ports maritimes, en mettant l’accent sur la collaboration entre les autorités locales et les ports. 

Le deuxième Sommet régional de la finance s'est tenu en présence des représentants des Chambres de commerce du Nord, du Nord-Est et du Nord-Ouest, de quelques autorités locales, d'étudiants, d'enseignants, d'économistes et de membres de la société civile.

The 2nd Regional Finance Summit in Northern Haiti was held in Cap-Haïtien from December 14-15, 2023. The summit brought together representatives from government, the private sector, and civil society to discuss the economic and financial opportunities in the region.

“Let's try to think outside the box, let's try to see the opportunities that are there for the 21st century and not complain about what is happening in Port-au-Prince,” said Kesner Pharel, president of Group Croissance, at the launch of the 2nd edition of the Regional Finance Summit in the Great North.

Placed under the theme " L’Éco au carré ” (referring to the words Economy and Ecology), the event brought together representatives of the government, the private sector, and civil society organizations to discuss the economic and financial opportunities in the North region of Haiti.

In his message, the economist called on participants to think about innovative projects that are part of the ecological transition. He also took the opportunity to underline the importance of cooperation between public and private actors to stimulate sustainable economic growth in the North, particularly in terms of tourism, agriculture, and information and communication technologies.

The two days of the summit were marked by important interventions from representatives of public and private institutions, including the Central Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the National Port Authority (APN).

On the sidelines of the summit, Kesner Pharel also called on the Haitian diaspora, whose transfers exceeded three million US dollars in the last fiscal year, to invest in the region. "Money is not a problem," he said, "but we need good projects and finance can support all that."

Another very popular intervention was that of the Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), Jocelin Villier, guest of honor at the summit, who stressed the importance of modernizing port infrastructure to stimulate economic growth. He also mentioned the concept of "port city," which aims to revitalize the economic development of coastal cities by capitalizing on the potential of maritime ports, with an emphasis on collaboration between local authorities and ports.

The second Regional Finance Summit was held in the presence of representatives of the Chambers of Commerce of the North, the Northeast, and the Northwest, as well as local officials, students, teachers, economists, and members of civil society.
