DEiK is a "Business Diplomacy Organisation" assigned the task of “conducting the foreign economic relations of the Turkish private sector through its 146 Business Councils, 95 Founding Institutions and 2.000 individual members that represent Turkey’s business community and its leading entrepreneurs, contributing to the functioning of the institution on a ‘voluntary basis’ in particular with respect to foreign trade, international investments, services, contracting and logistics; to analyze investment opportunities at home and abroad; to help boost the country’s exports, and to coordinate similar business development activities. Turkey-Africa Business Councils under the umbrella of DEiK plays a catalytic role to strengthen Turkey – Africa trade, economic and cultural ties . The Business Councils currently operating in 45 Countries with 50 counterpart organizations aim: To establish relations with regional institutions (African Union, NEPAD, African Development Bank, ECOWAS) To increase the number of Turkish companies investing and trading in Africa (Business Forums, Panels on Partnerships with third countries) To help its members develop business opportunities (Sectoral Business Delegations) To strengthen Business Council’s structure (to gain new member companies active in the continent) To develop joint activities and collaboration with related national and local institutions (Chambers, Unions, Business Associations)
