Animalista nació en Medellín, Colombia en 2011 como un sueño y una necesidad personal de encontrar zapatos y bolsos en el mercado que fueran deportivos y elegantes, pero al mismo tiempo adaptables a varias ocasiones y que no usaran piel de animal. Además, se buscó que tanto la mano de obra como los materiales fueran colombianos, para preservar la fabricación de zapatos de manera artesanal y adaptarlos completamente al uso de materiales de cuero alternativos como lonas, sintéticos y lonas 100% reciclados.
