Amber Mackereth

Amber Mackereth, an international business development consultant based in Ottawa, Canada. Amber has been supporting Canadian companies and organizations in their pursuit of international business opportunities for 20 years. Her work has primarily focused on the Caribbean market where she has a wealth of experience and well-established networks. Amber has led, or played an integral role in, the successful execution of more than 25 international trade missions, 20 of which were to the Caribbean region. She has also provided customized consulting and advisory services to dozens of Canadian firms seeking to enter or expand into the Caribbean and she has been retained to develop customized market entry strategies for the Caribbean region for upwards of 30 Canadian firms, spanning numerous sectors. Amber previously served as the Trade Commissioner for International Financial Institutions (IFIs) based out of the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. In this role, she provided strategic advice and assistance to Canadian businesses in their pursuit of opportunities financed by the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. Amber is intimately familiar with the operations and procurement of the IFIs and the success factors for winning IFI-financed procurement contracts and pursuing IFI finance. Prior to launching her own independent consulting practice in 2014, Amber spent time in the private sector, working for an IT and Management Consulting company. In this role, she developed and implemented an international growth strategy focused on IFI-funded opportunities, supporting the firm to secure IFI-funded work in eight new markets in less than two years. Amber has an M.A. in International Affairs and a Masters Certificate in Project Management. She is fluent in English, French, and Spanish, has worked in more than twenty countries on a range of international projects and is an experienced and qualified project
