Pablo Arteaga

Pablo is an attorney with specialized expertise in the legal engineering of personal data protection and the implementation and support of regulatory compliance programs. Pablo also holds a Diploma in Privacy and Compliance from the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH). and a LLM in Data Protection at the University of La Rioja (Spain). Additionally, he has obtained several professional certifications: ISO 27701 Lead Implementer; ISO 29100 Lead Implementer; Privacy Implementation as a DPO according to the GDPR; and, Privacy Management and Governance as a DPO according to the GDPR. Pablo's practice focuses on personal data protection and financial sector technology (Fintech). He has been part of significant local and global law firms and currently serves as Counsel for Ecuador at Lawtaem, a firm specializing in legal advice to technology companies that serve market leaders globally such as TikTok, Meta, Amazon, and Spotify. Pablo is an active participant in essential spaces for promoting best practices in his advisory areas, including the Financial Cluster of Ecuador, CITEC, Asofintech, and the Technology Cluster. He has advised public and private sector entities, both national and multinational, on personal data protection matters and has served as an invited expert at working tables for the development of the regulations under the Organic Law on Personal Data Protection. Pablo has contributed various publications to specialized journals such as DATTA and Industria legal. He is the author of the first Ecuadorian guide to compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law, published in E-Book format titled "Designing the Future: Personal Data Protection." He is also the author of the "Third Country Assessment" of Ecuadorian data protection legislation published by the global data protection leader OneTrust Data Guidance and co-author of the first book on Legal Design in Spanish published by Thomson Reuters.
