John R. Gagain Jr. currently serves as Managing Partner at Infinity Media. In the late 1990s John served as a delegate to the UN Earth Summit and UN World Conference Against Racism. He was also Education Coordinator at the United Nations Association of the USA in New York City. John’s career in communications began shortly thereafter during consultations leading up to the UN Millennium Summit when he served as writer and editor at the International Institute of Sustainable Development (IISD). At IISD, John worked for clients including the UN’s Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and other UN agencies and programs. In 2003, John joined a diverse team of economists from Columbia University’s Earth Institute, the UN Millennium Project, and the UN Development Program (UNDP). In 2004, John led a Presidential Commission created by the President of the Dominican Republic, which was tasked to work with the same team to conduct a local, national, and international needs assessment to evaluate obstacles to achieving the UN’s Millennium Development Goals. More recently, John led communications and social media while serving as Press Secretary on Capitol Hill for US Congressman Henry Cuellar of Texas and Press Secretary at the US Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a development financing initiative created and launched by President George W. Bush at the UN’s International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD) in Monterrey, Mexico. John serves as a mentor for businesses seeking guidance on marketing, social media, and media engagement at SCORE Association at the US Small Business Administration (SBA) in Washington DC and Yunus Social Business – an organization created by Nobel Laureate and financing for development pioneer Muhammad Yunus.
