Leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Improve Forest Fire Prevention and Prediction in the Bolivian Amazon

The Inter-American Development Bank invites consulting firms to submit their Expression of Interest to adapt and apply advanced artificial intelligence (AI) tools, simulation and geospatial analysis of forest fires in Bolivia. The objective is to improve risk prevention, prediction and management by identifying critical areas, simulating propagation scenarios and formulating recommendations for comprehensive fire management.
1. Evaluation of tools and selection of pilot territories
Identify and prioritize open-source tools based on AI and simulation, assess higher-risk forest areas in Santa Cruz, Beni, Pando, and Tarija, and select at least two priority pilot territories.
2. Geospatial Analysis and Fire Simulation
Process geospatial data and satellite imagery, adapt tools to local conditions, and simulate fire ignition and propagation scenarios.
3. Mapping and capacity building
Develop maps of hotspots, spread corridors, and priority areas for preventive interventions, as well as strengthen national technical capacities in open-source tools integrated with GIS systems.
