Description
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is seeking a specialized consulting firm to produce a rigorous, evidence-based regional assessment of the Amazonian nut sector in Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru. The project aims to identify market access determinants and value chain dynamics to create actionable recommendations for regional commercial integration, fostering both economic growth and forest conservation in the Amazon region.
1. Regional market mapping and policy analysis
- Trade facilitation: Evaluating export processes and the institutional mechanisms governing market access at both national and international levels.
- Stakeholder characterization: Analyzing the roles of exterior commerce agencies, trade promotion bodies, and international trade organizations in the three countries.
- Demand dynamics: Identifying major buyers and commercialization channels in domestic and global markets to understand current demand trends.
2. Value chain structure and bottleneck identification
- Logistics and standards: Mapping the chain from harvest to final sale, assessing processing capacity and compliance with international quality requirements.
- Strategic branding: Evaluating existing promotional efforts and branding strategies to identify potential synergies and complementarity.
- Barriers to entry: Pinpointing structural, regulatory, and technical assistance gaps that currently hinder market performance in each country.
3. Integration strategy and implementation roadmap
- Feasibility assessment: Evaluating the potential forms, conditions, and benefits of a coordinated regional market access strategy.
- Actionable roadmap: Formulating a concrete set of recommendations and a strategic timeline to advance commercial integration while ensuring positive conservation outcomes.
