Description

The Co-operative Republic of Guyana, through the Ministry of Education, is moving forward with the project "Support for Educational Recovery and Transformation" (GY-L1079), financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The initiative aims to strengthen human capital by improving learning environments, with a specific focus on Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND). This consultancy is designed to bolster the capacity of the Ministry and the Regional Special Needs Education Diagnostic and Treatment Centre. By training and coaching a team of professionals in educational evaluations, the project ensures that vulnerable students receive accurate assessments for proper placement and access to specialized services.

Scope of services:

- Professional coaching: Training, monitoring, and mentoring a team of young professionals in the administration and interpretation of educational evaluations.

- Diagnostic capacity: Strengthening the operational capacity of the Regional Special Needs Education Diagnostic and Treatment Centre.

- Student placement: Providing expert interpretation of evaluations to inform student placement and eligibility for specialized educational services.

- Systemic support: Assisting in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and providing guidance to educators within the national system.

Qualification requirements:

- Academic background: A Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.

- Certification: Preferred licensure or certification as an Educational Diagnostician or equivalent.

- Professional experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in educational assessment and diagnosis.

- Technical expertise: Proven track record working with children with SEND and significant experience in the development of IEPs.

- Training experience: Demonstrated ability to train educators and work effectively within large-scale public education systems.
