Description
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is seeking a consulting firm to enhance water resource management and environmental monitoring in Argentina, Bolivia, and Colombia. The project aims to implement innovative digital twin and remote sensing technologies to create high-fidelity virtual replicas of the Bermejo and Magdalena river basins, optimizing decision-making for sediment management and climate resilience.
1. Digital twin implementation and modeling
The consultancy will leverage advanced computational techniques to mirror real-world hydric dynamics:
Model construction: Designing and building comprehensive digital twin models for both basins, integrating real-time data inputs and machine learning algorithms for predictive analytics.
Remote sensing: Utilizing satellite and remote sensing tools to supplement traditional monitoring station data on sediment dynamics and water quality.
Predictive capabilities: Implementing advanced modeling to forecast basin behavior under various climate change and operational scenarios.
2. Sediment dynamics and dredging optimization
A critical component of the study is the quantification of physical river processes:
Bermejo River: Analyzing transport patterns and quantifying sediment loads entering the Paraguay River to provide insights for optimizing dredging operations.
Magdalena River: Assessing sediment behavior at the outlet of the navigation channel and evaluating its potential environmental effects on coastal areas.
Operational strategy: Developing forecasting models to support sustainable management practices and mitigate the impacts of sedimentation on navigability.
3. Capacity building and institutional support
To ensure the long-term sustainability of the technological tools, the firm will focus on local expertise:
Stakeholder engagement: Collaborating with regional institutions such as COBINABE and CORMAGDALENA to harmonize data collection and reporting.
Technical training: Conducting specialized sessions for local experts on the operation of the digital twin models and the interpretation of complex data outputs.
Reporting: Delivering detailed analytical reports, methodology documentation, and strategic recommendations for basin resilience and sustainable water resource management.
Note: Interested companies must review the experience requirements in logistics analysis and international data management in the BEO Bidders Portal.
