Description
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is seeking to hire a consulting firm to prepare the final engineering designs of electrical distribution networks and lines in Guatemala. The project will expand access to energy in rural communities in the departments of Baja Verapaz and Huehuetenango, ensuring the technical and economic viability of future construction works.
1. Territorial scope and beneficiaries
The consultancy will focus on priority municipalities under the supervision of INDE's Rural Electrification and Works Management (GERO):
Baja Verapaz: Cubulco, Purulhá and San Jerónimo.
Huehuetenango: Santa Cruz Barillas.
The firm will receive georeferenced data and user lists to initiate field surveys and determine the exact length of the necessary lines.
2. Technical process and design phases
The service is structured in two consecutive stages:
Pre-design inspection: On-site information survey (10 business days) to georeference intake points, load centers, and community boundaries.
Final design: After the approval of the pre-design, the detailed engineering will be prepared, including design plans, calculation reports, description of soils, accesses and work budgets.
3. Compliance regulations
All deliverables shall strictly adhere to the technical standards in force:
National: Standards of the National Electric Energy Commission (CNEE), such as NTDOID and NTSD, in addition to local regulations of the regional distributor.
International: Compliance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) to ensure the operational safety of the facilities.
Note: Interested companies should review the international data management and logistics analysis experience requirements on the BEO Bidder Portal.
