Thomas Dunn

Thomas Dunn is Managing Director of Flexpacknology, a consultancy he founded after over 30 years in designing and developing flexible packaging solutions for major consumer food product companies. He was the Product Development Director at Printpack, overseeing its 20 fold increase in product volume in his over 29 year career; including high barrier packaging for shelf stable foods, for high respiration packages for fresh produce and for initiating the company’s pouching business. At Printpack, he managed intellectual property activities: reviewing staff invention disclosures, managing dialog with patent counsel and working with outside counsel on freedom-to-operate matters, design-around strategies and patent-ability questions. He established internal systems to insure the compliance of company products with domestic and internal food safety laws. Dunn won TAPPIs Technical Achievement Award in 2003. In 2012: Dunn with 4 other industry experts assessed research needs for in-package food irradiation for the International Atomic Energy Agency; he presented his model of packaging to enableg agribusiness export growth at Central Philippines University; and was inducted into the National Packaging Hall of Fame.
