The Federal Fluminense University was created in 1960 with the Federal University name of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UFERJ). It originated from the merger of Pharmacy Federal Schools, Dentistry and Law (1912), Medicine (1926) and Veterinary Medicine (1936); He added another five, three of which were state, namely: Nursing (1944), Social Work (1945), Engineering (1952), and two, private, Economics (1942) and Philosophy (1947). After being nationalized and incorporated this union was renamed Universidade Federal Fluminense. The mission of UFF is to produce, disseminate and apply knowledge and culture critically and socially relevant.
