EL CIDCCA (Centro de Inclusión, Diseño y Capacitación para la Comunidad y la Accesibilidad) is a Colombian organization founded with the mission of promoting accessibility, inclusion, and universal design across diverse sectors of society. Established in Bogotá, EL CIDCCA emerged from the recognition that many communities in Latin America face barriers that prevent full participation in education, employment, healthcare, and public life. Our organization was created to address these challenges by offering technical expertise, training, and consulting services that ensure environments, infrastructures, and services are accessible to all people, regardless of their physical, sensory, or cognitive abilities. From its inception, EL CIDCCA has been guided by the principle that accessibility is not merely a legal requirement or a technical adjustment, but a fundamental human right. We believe that inclusive design benefits everyone, creating spaces that are safer, more efficient, and more welcoming. Our work is rooted in the conviction that societies thrive when all individuals can contribute and participate fully. This philosophy has shaped our projects, partnerships, and long-term vision. Over the years, EL CIDCCA has expanded its scope beyond Colombia, positioning itself as a regional leader in accessibility and universal design. We collaborate with governments, international organizations, private companies, and civil society groups to integrate accessibility into infrastructure projects, educational programs, and community initiatives. By combining technical knowledge with social responsibility, we have built a reputation for delivering solutions that are both innovative and practical. Our mission is to empower communities and institutions to adopt accessibility and universal design as central pillars of development. We aim to eliminate barriers that limit participation, ensuring that people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups can access opportunities on equal terms. Through consulting, training, and project implementation, EL CIDCCA provides the tools and knowledge necessary to transform environments into inclusive spaces. Our vision is to become a leading organization in Latin America recognized for advancing accessibility and inclusion in all areas of public and private life. We aspire to influence policies, inspire innovation, and create models of inclusive development that can be replicated across the region. By 2030, we envision EL CIDCCA as a key partner in international projects financed by institutions such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, and the United Nations, contributing to the global agenda of sustainable and inclusive development. Our methodology is built on a combination of technical expertise, participatory processes, and evidence-based strategies. We believe that accessibility and inclusion cannot be achieved through isolated interventions; they require systemic change and collaboration among stakeholders. Every project begins with a comprehensive assessment of existing conditions. We conduct accessibility audits of infrastructure, services, and policies to identify barriers and opportunities. Our diagnostic tools are based on international standards, including the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and ISO accessibility guidelines. We involve stakeholders—government officials, community members, educators, healthcare providers, and people with disabilities—in the design process. This participatory approach ensures that solutions are relevant, practical, and culturally appropriate. By engaging diverse voices, we build ownership and sustainability into every project. Training and education are central to our methodology. We provide workshops, seminars, and technical courses to build the capacity of institutions and professionals. Our training programs cover topics such as universal design, inclusive communication, and accessibility regulations. By strengthening local expertise, we ensure that accessibility becomes a permanent feature of development. EL CIDCCA supports the implementation of accessibility measures, from architectural modifications to policy reforms. We work closely with partners to ensure that projects are executed effectively and within budget. Monitoring and evaluation are integral to our approach, allowing us to measure impact and adjust strategies as needed. We invest in research to identify emerging challenges and innovative solutions. Our studies explore topics such as accessible smart cities, inclusive digital platforms, and adaptive technologies. By staying at the forefront of innovation, EL CIDCCA provides cutting-edge solutions that anticipate future needs.
