ConnectAmericas is the first social business network of the Americas, dedicated to promoting international trade and investment. ConnectAmericas helps small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) strengthen their businesses, by offering access to business communities, investors, and suppliers in the region and around the world. It also offers simple and useful information on processes and regulations for international trade, and on financing options available in member IDB countries.
The initiative was created by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), with support from Google, DHL, SeaLand, MasterCard, and Facebook. It currently has over 220,000 registered users from over 160 countries.
How to do business on ConnectAmericas?
When you visit ConnectAmericas, you'll find your Control Panel, which will give you access to the following tools to help you grow your business:
- Purchasing Announcements
In this section, you'll find purchasing announcements from large companies and governments. They can be filtered by country and/or industry, and by simply clicking on one, you'll be able to see more information. Companies such as DHL, Arcos Dorados (McDonald's), Riachuelo, Centauro GE, Grupo Britt and OHL already buy via ConnectAmericas.
To apply to them, simply create and verify your company profile, and fill out the application form.
- Company Directory
Here you can access the company database, which can be filtered by country or industry. Upon viewing a company profile, you can find out more about the company and the goods/services it offers, what countries they're present in, certifications, etc.
You can also view the company's verification status and reviews from other users, as well as a list of people that work there and are registered on ConnectAmericas.
By clicking on the contact information, you'll access the internal messaging system where you can communicate directly with a representative of the company.
- Business and Financial Services
ConnectAmericas offers information about financial and business support services in the region. For each service, you'll find a brief summary and links that redirect the user to the entity that provides it.
- Business Communities
In hopes to facilitate connections among users,, ConnectAmericas has industry-specific business communities, which function as a great site to post and view offers. In the, users can post purchase and sale offers, or messages. It is the perfect medium to keep up with news and trends in each sector, and promote your company.
Here, you can find information about events within and beyond the region, both organized by the IDB and other entities. In this section, you'll find general event information and its organizers, links, and discounts to participate.
We also post live and online business events organized by ConnectAmericas and the IDB which, in addition to being free of charge, offer financial support and benefits for participants.
- Partner Banks
In this section, ConnectAmericas offers financial institutions in the region a space to promote their financial goods and services for SMEs.
Finally, in the "Learn" section, you'll be able to find courses, advisory services, success stories, guides, tools, and information about trends and opportunities.
- How do I sign up?
To create a profile on ConnectAmericas, simply click on "Sign Up" and fill out the registration form. You will then receive a confirmation email to activate your account.
