The experience boosted their participation from public works to environmental management, offering important lessons to replicate in other regions.

Tourism employs a majority of women, but often in precarious conditions, without access to financing or leadership roles. The Sustainable Tourism Program in Salta, funded by the IDB, tackled these challenges by supporting women entrepreneurs with training and resources, and prioritizing their inclusion in the formal tourism value chain. Over 80% of those who received training and funding were women—marking real progress toward greater gender equity in the sector.
