Description
The Cooperative Republic of Guyana, through the Ministry of Education, is moving forward with the project "Support for Educational Recovery and Transformation" (GY-L1079), financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The initiative aims to strengthen human capital by improving learning environments, with a specific focus on Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). This consultancy is designed to strengthen the capacity of the Ministry and the Regional Centre for Special Needs Education and Treatment. By training and mentoring a team of professionals in educational assessments, the project ensures that vulnerable students receive accurate assessments for appropriate placement and access to specialist services.
Scope of services:
- Professional coaching: Training, supervision and mentoring of a team of young professionals in the administration and interpretation of educational evaluations.
- Diagnostic capacity: Strengthening the operational capacity of the Regional Center for Education and Treatment for Special Needs.
- Student Placement: Provide expert interpretation of assessments to inform student placement and eligibility for specialized educational services.
- Systemic Support: Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and provide guidance to educators within the national system.
Qualification requirements:
- Academic background: A master's degree in Educational Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.
- Certification: Preferred license or certification as an Educational Diagnostician or equivalent.
- Professional experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in educational evaluation and diagnosis.
- Technical expertise: Proven track record working with children with SEND and extensive experience in developing IEPs.
- Training experience: Demonstrated ability to train educators and work effectively in large-scale public education systems.
