The Government of Barbados has received funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the European Union (EU) towards the cost of the Public Sector Smart Energy Programme, and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this financing to eligible payments under the Contract for which this Invitation to Bid (ITB) is issued.
The Division of Energy and Telecommunications, Prime Minister’s Office, now invites sealed tenders from eligible and qualified bidders for the Supply and Installation of Grid Tied Photovoltaic (PV) Systems on thirteen (13) Government Buildings, the aim of which is to reduce Barbados’ dependence on fossil fuels by promoting Renewable Energy (RE) in the public sector. The delivery and installation period is estimated to be over a period of six (6) months.
The buildings will be divided into two (2) lots and contractors are allowed to bid on one or both lots.
Through the financing of RE installations, the project will promote the generation of at least 1.7 Mega Watts (MW) of RE generation and energy savings of at least 3GWh, resulting in financial savings from the reduction in electricity bills.
