Description

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB), invites specialized consulting firms to submit proposals to carry out a regional prospective geochemical survey on the eastern edge of the Jequié Block in Bahia, Brazil.

The objective is to execute systematic stream sediment and pan concentrate sampling to generate a georeferenced database for the geochemical and metallogenic assessment of Rare Earth Elements (REE).

1. Scope of Services & Technical Requirements
Sampling Density & Scale: Collect active stream sediments and heavy mineral pan concentrates across approximately 300 sampling stations compatible with a 1:100,000 scale.

Standardized Field Protocols: Follow SGB Standard Operating Procedures (SOP 001/DIGEOQ/2021 and SOP 002/DIGEOQ/2021), collecting fine sediment fractions (2 to 4 kg) manually using plastic tools and 1 mm sieves to prevent metal contamination.

QA/QC & Traceability: Collect duplicate samples every 15 stations, record sub-meter GPS coordinates with photographic verification, and register field data using the BaseGEO application.

2. Key Operational Activities
Planning & Field Permits: Prepare a detailed inception report, logistics plan, coding protocol, and secure all necessary local land access permits in coordination with SGB.

Chain of Custody & Logistics: Package, seal, and manage sample moisture during transit to guarantee data integrity and prevent contamination prior to laboratory delivery.

Database & GIS Integration: Consolidate field records, spatial data, and metadata into a standardized, GIS-compatible database structure hosted on SGB repositories.

3. Key Deliverables
Inception Report & Logistics Plan: Detailed field methodology, QA/QC framework, safety protocols, and operational schedule.

Sample Batches & Field Records: Packaged stream sediment and pan concentrate samples delivered alongside physical/digital field forms.

Georeferenced Database & Final Report: Consolidated GIS spatial database, metadata documentation, final technical report, and presentation of results.

Note: Interested companies must review the requirements in the BEO Bidders Portal.
