Description
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB), invites specialized consulting firms to submit proposals to carry out a detailed prospective geochemical soil survey in the Araçuaí Pegmatite District, Minas Gerais.
The primary objective is to execute systematic soil sampling, field quality control, and georeferenced data consolidation to produce critical inputs for geochemical and metallogenic interpretation across the region.
1. Scope of Services & Sampling Campaign
Target Region: Cover nine 1:100,000 map sheets in the Araçuaí Pegmatite District (Taiobeiras, Curral de Dentro, Salinas, Comercinho, Araçuaí, Itaobim, Jenipapo, Novo Cruzeiro, and Minas Novas, including a section of the Grão Mogol sheet).
Sample Volume & Density: Collect 1,340 soil samples plus 54 duplicate control samples, maintaining a sampling density of at least 1 sample per 20 km².
Target Horizon: Execute systematic sampling strictly within the soil B horizon across all collection stations, recording depth, texture, color, and pedological features.
2. Key Operational & Field Requirements
Standardized Field Protocols: Comply with SGB Standard Operating Procedures (SOP DIGEOQ 3 and Technical Instruction DIGEOB 04), using manual augers and non-contaminating equipment without prior field sieving or drying.
QA/QC & Traceability: Collect field duplicate samples every 25 points, register field data digitally using SGB's BaseGEO application and physical notebooks, and maintain a verifiable chain of custody.
Logistics & Permits: Manage operational access, secure field permits in coordination with SGB, and transport sealed sample batches to designated SGB regional units or analytical laboratories.
3. Key Deliverables
Inception Report & Logistics Plan: Comprehensive execution schedule, mobilization strategy, QA/QC protocols, coding system, and health and safety plan.
Sample Batches & Field Registers: Properly packaged, sealed, and identified soil samples delivered alongside complete physical and digital field sheets.
Georeferenced Database & Technical Report: Consolidated GIS-compatible database (QGIS/ArcGIS vector formats), metadata, digital documentation formatted for the SGB RIGEO repository, and final technical report and presentation.
Note: Interested companies must review the requirements in the BEO Bidders Portal.
