Description

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is calling on consulting firms to act as local manager and technical counterpart in the implementation of a pilot project for a Weighing in Motion System and structural monitoring on three bridges in the Dominican Republic, in direct coordination with the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).

1. Project Management and Field Operations
Strategic Liaison: Ongoing technical and operational coordination between the international firm that owns the technology (SiWIM), the MOPC, the IDB and the relevant national authorities.

Installation supervision: Direct control of the field deployment of sensors and advanced monitoring software, ensuring strict compliance with local engineering regulations.

Logistical support: Processing government permits, managing safe access to sites and optimising equipment transfers between the three successive bridges.

2. Data analysis and technical feasibility
Data evaluation: Collaboration in the processing and technical analysis of the structural and dynamic weighing metrics collected during the pilot phase.

Replicability study: Analysis of the efficacy, scalability and cost-benefit ratio of the emerging technologies applied, considering the Dominican road context.

Expansion Plan: Development of strategic recommendations aimed at the MOPC for the potential adoption and replication of the system on a large scale in the management of bridges in the country.

3. Knowledge transfer and training
Institutional strengthening: Organization and joint implementation of technical workshops, seminars and practical training sessions in the field for the ministry's engineers.

Adoption of best practices: Dissemination of modern methodologies and technological innovation applied to the supervision, maintenance and security of critical infrastructures.
