Description
The Urban Development Institute (IDU), with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), seeks to implement the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology to perform value engineering on the existing designs of the southern section of Carrera Séptima in Bogotá (Calle 24 to Calle 99). This project seeks to resolve a historical mobility debt on the eastern edge of the Colombian capital through advanced digital management.
Key points of this initiative:
1. Historical evolution and need for the project
Since 2004, the Seventh Race has been the subject of multiple proposals that did not materialize or had partial results:
Massive Systems: TransMilenio, heavy rail and light rail/tram trunks (the latter declared failed or abandoned by the originators) were evaluated.
Operating Models: From fixed stops for the SITP to the current operation of dual buses that connect with Carrera 10.
Sustainable Mobility: The implementation of bidirectional bike paths as a mitigation measure during the COVID-19 pandemic.
2. Implementation of BIM methodology
The southern section (approximately 9.08 km) will use BIM to optimize previous studies and designs (2016 and 2021 contracts). Expected benefits include:
Value Engineering: Adjust existing designs to improve construction efficiency and reduce costs.
Digital Coordination: Integrate this section with the three northern sectors (Calle 99 to Calle 200) that will begin construction in 2026.
Risk Mitigation: Visualize interference from networks and structures in a digital environment prior to execution in the field.
3. Current Scope and Development Plan
Under the District Development Plan "Bogotá Camina Segura 2024 - 2027", the project is consolidated as a key piece for the connectivity of the eastern edge. The technical consultancy must:
Validate the information of the contracts IDU-1073-2016, IDU-1299 and IDU-1319 of 2021.
Ensure the interoperability of digital models between the different entities of the District.
To provide a solid technical basis for the future award of the construction phase.
Note: Interested companies should review the registration and technical compliance requirements on the BEO Bidder Portal.
