Description
The IDB intends to contract consulting services to carry out a Hydrological Analysis of the Paraná River Basin, in Paraguay.
Consulting services include the generation of additional information on the physical impacts of climate change on hydroelectric generation in Paraguay to support planning and decision-making processes in the electricity generation sector. Specific objectives include:
- Evaluate and define the degree of vulnerability to climate variability and change of existing hydroelectric generation systems in the Paraná River basin and tributary slopes;
- Identify and define possible adaptation measures with high benefit/cost for vulnerable hydroelectric systems that take into account types of use and users of water resources and that contribute to climate-resilient and low-carbon development scenarios in Paraguay according to their NDC;
- Prepare an Adaptation Plan for the hydroelectric generation subsector with robust measures to maintain its level of reliability under various future scenarios and following plausible adaptation routes under different predetermined time periods.
