Description
The Republic of Suriname, through the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Tourism, has requested financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the Support to the Air Transport Sector in Suriname. This consultancy aims to provide comprehensive engineering documents for the rehabilitation of the Kwamalasamutu (SMSM) turf runway. The project is vital for ensuring safe, dependable, and climate-resilient aviation operations in remote regions, facilitating essential transport links for ICAO 2B aircraft and improving the general safety conditions of the aerodrome.
Scope of services:
- Engineering Design: Delivery of complete design and engineering documents for the rehabilitation of the existing turf runway and infrastructure.
- Standards Compliance: All designs must comply with international standards, specifically ICAO and FAA regulations for unsealed and unpaved aerodromes.
- Technical Specialties: The work includes geotechnical engineering, advanced drainage solutions for tropical environments, and logistics planning for remote locations.
- Duration: The estimated timeframe for the delivery of the engineering package is 15 weeks.
Qualification requirements:
- Relevant Experience: Proven track record in unpaved runway design and similar assignments within the last 10 years, including projects in similar remote environments.
- Organizational Capacity: Documentation of the firm’s legal status (Chamber of Commerce registry), main areas of specialization, and available technical expertise.
- Shortlist Process: A shortlist of 5 to 8 eligible firms will be established based on the submitted expressions of interest.
- Associations: Firms may associate in the form of a Joint Venture or engage subconsultants to enhance their technical qualifications.
