Description
The Dominican Republic, through the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR), has requested financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the Sustainable Coastal Management Project.
This technical consultancy is essential to combat coastal erosion in the main tourist poles of the country, locating compatible underwater sand sources to restore the width and quality of the beaches.
The main objective is to execute a high-resolution geophysical and geotechnical research campaign on the Dominican continental shelf. It seeks to identify and certify sandbanks that meet the technical requirements to be used in the regeneration of critical coastal systems, ensuring that their future extraction is environmentally viable and does not affect the surrounding marine ecosystems.
The consultancy is divided into four intervention lots that cover emblematic beaches:
- Santo Domingo: Andrés and Boca Chica beaches (target search volume: 130,000 $m^$3).
- Samaná: Playa Bonita and Punta Popy (target search volume: 590,000 $m^$3).
- La Altagracia: Arena Gorda Zone - El Cortecito - Bávaro (the largest project with a target volume of 3,000,000 $m^3$).
- Puerto Plata: Playa Sosúa (target search volume: 88,000 $m^$3).
To make up the short list (5 to 8 firms), MITUR invites consultants with high technical specialization that demonstrate: Trajectory: Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the market and specific experience in coastal engineering or oceanography.
Proven experience: Have successfully completed at least three (3) sandbar characterization projects or dredging studies in the last decade.
Technological capacity: Prove ownership of or access to state-of-the-art equipment for high-resolution geophysics, 3D stratigraphy and marine geotechnics.
Legal solidity: Documentation that supports the constitution of the firm or consortium (APCA).
Note: Tender documents and forms for expression of interest are available in the official language of the country.
