Description
The Inter-American Development Bank invites consulting firms to submit their Expression of Interest to evaluate the incorporation of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and other innovative technologies in the Honduran electricity system, analyzing their technical, regulatory, economic and financial feasibility.
The consultancy includes the following activities:
1. Diagnosis and sizing of BESS systems
Evaluate the current and future needs of the transmission system, considering the 2026-2035 Expansion Plan. Determine the quantity, location, power (MW), energy capacity (MWh) and optimal technology of the BESS systems through electrical simulations.
2. Operational integration
Develop a plan to integrate BESS systems into network operation, including equipment configuration, SCADA/EMS system upgrades, operational responsibilities, and maintenance.
3. Regulatory analysis and economic evaluation
Examine the regulatory framework, permits and licenses needed. Evaluate investment, operation and maintenance costs, benefits to the electricity system and possible business models and remuneration.
4. Evaluation of innovative technologies
Analyze the application of Grid Enhancing Technologies (GET) as alternatives or complements to the traditional expansion of transmission, considering technical, regulatory and financial aspects.
The consultancy will have an estimated duration of six months.
Interested companies should carefully review the registration requirements on the relevant IDB portal and ensure that all requested information is completed before submitting their Statement of Interest (EOI).
