Description
The Republic of Ecuador, through the Banco del Estado, has requested financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the Investment Program for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Ecuador. This call aims to hire a consulting firm to carry out comprehensive technical studies and final designs of the basic sanitation infrastructure in the Lago Agrio canton. The project is critical to improving public health and quality of life in the Ecuadorian Amazon by ensuring efficient drinking water, sewerage, and wastewater treatment systems that respond to population growth and environmental protection.
Scope of consultancy:
Phase 1: Prefeasibility and feasibility: Includes the collection of information (cadastre), diagnosis of current systems and proposal of alternatives. The technical, environmental, financial and social feasibility will be evaluated to select the optimal option.
Phase 2: Final designs: Preparation of detailed engineering for drinking water, sanitary sewerage, storm sewerage and Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP).
Location: The interventions cover the city of Nueva Loja and the Puerto Rico precinct in the province of SucumbĂos.
Qualification Requirements
The selection will be made in accordance with the IDB's Consulting Policies. Interested firms must accredit experience in projects executed in the last 15 years with the following thresholds:
Population Coverage: Projects for populations equal to or greater than 25,000 inhabitants.
Drinking Water and Pumping: Designs of drinking water systems for average flows > 100 l/s and pumping systems > 200 l/s.
Sewerage and Treatment: Sanitary sewer designs (flow > 80 l/s) and rainwater (areas > 1,000 ha). Design of WWTP with flow rates greater than 80 l/s.
Process: A short list of between 5 and 8 firms will be formed. Joint Venture Partnership (APCA) is allowed to enhance qualifications.
Presentation: The expression of interest must include the letter of interest, legal identification of the consultant and documentary support of the completed projects (delivery-receipt minutes).
